ERPNext and Tally: work in both, or move across
Whether your accounts team wants to keep Tally alongside ERPNext or you are ready to move off it, we make the data flow cleanly: exports Tally can import, and structured migration of masters, balances and tax data into ERPNext.
Keep Tally, or move to ERPNext
There is no single right answer. We set up whichever fits how your accounts team works.
Run both: ERPNext to Tally export
ERPNext handles day-to-day operations. We build report exports in the format Tally imports, so your accountants can bring ERPNext transactions into Tally without retyping.
- Exports match Tally's import format
- No double entry for the accounts team
- A good first step if you are not ready to leave Tally
Move across: Tally to ERPNext
We migrate your master data and opening balances into ERPNext with import templates, validated with your accountant before go-live.
- Items, suppliers, customers and accounts
- Opening balances, GST and HSN data
- Chart of accounts redesigned if you want
Master data, tax and accounts, imported properly
Chart of accounts
Structured around your expense heads and units, with filtering so a form only offers the accounts that make sense for the chosen head.
Items, suppliers and customers
Imported with default accounts, auto-generated item codes and expense ledgers, and multi-level tax and GST handling.
GST, HSN and GSTIN
Tax identifiers and HSN codes loaded and mapped, so invoices carry the right tax details from day one.
Clean data in, with your accountant in the loop
Review
We look at your Tally data, groups and ledgers, and agree what comes across.
Design
We plan the ERPNext chart of accounts, tax setup and defaults.
Import
We load data with import templates and fix what the validation finds.
Check and go live
Your accountant checks balances and reports before the cut-over, and we stay on for support.

Frequently asked questions
Can we keep using Tally and still use ERPNext?
Yes. We have built report exports from ERPNext that match the format Tally imports, so accounts teams can keep working in Tally where they need to, without retyping entries.
Can ERPNext replace Tally?
For many businesses, yes. ERPNext covers accounting, purchasing, sales and inventory in one system, with GST handled through Indian localisation. Some teams keep Tally for specific accounting tasks, and we support either path.
What data can you migrate from Tally?
Typically masters and balances: items, suppliers, customers, accounts, opening balances and HSN codes, with default accounts and tax setup. For one client we also imported users, employees, racks, GSTIN data, budgets and the chart of accounts.
Will our past transactions move across?
Most clients import masters and opening balances and keep older transactions in Tally for reference. Whether to bring history across is something we decide with your accountant during scoping.
How long does a Tally to ERPNext migration take?
It depends on how many masters you have, how clean the data is and how much history you want. After a short review we give you a written scope with phases and dates.
Do you redesign the chart of accounts?
Yes, if you want it. We have designed custom charts of accounts around a client's expense heads and operational units, with dependent filtering so each form only shows the relevant accounts.
